Saffron - worth knowing

Safran - Crocus Sativa

Saffron belongs to the Crocus Sativa family and only blooms once a year - in autumn.
The dark red threads of our saffron flowers are selected and plucked exclusively by hand.

One of the most desirable spice in the world - the harvest is very expensive. A saffron flower has only 3 threads and blooms only once a year.
To collect a kilo of saffron, you need about 15,000 flowers.

We ensure the quality and purity of our saffron through a renowned German GBA food analysis laboratory (we will send you laboratory results on request). Crocine, Picrocrocine and Safranal form the building blocks of our red-colored saffron threads and exceed the requirements of ISO-3632-1 very much. Class 1 is awarded from a Crocine value of over 190.
The current harvest is therefore secured.

Saffron serves as an excellent spice component for all kinds of dishes. Whether rice, pasta, fish, as a marinade, puree or in a cake - it fits in anywhere and enchants you in a world of the most precious flavors and tastes.
With its sweet and bitter taste, saffron flatters your dish in an unforgettable way.

In addition to the wonderful aromas, saffron is used for medicinal and healing purposes. The saffron and crocine contained in saffron have anti-inflammatory effects, relieve pain and conjure a smile on one or the other's face.
